The “Faces of the Sea” segment will share the stories of individuals whose lives are deeply interconnected with the ocean across a variety of sectors and will highlight humanity’s relationship with the ocean, as well as related threats and opportunities.
Meet the Speakers:
Easkey Britton @easkeysurf is a world-renowned Irish surfer, marine social scientist, and author. Using her passion for the ocean to create social change, connection, and inclusion across cultures. She is part of Liquid Therapy, one of the partners of our Inclusea European consortium, seeking to turn the tides to create an innovative methodology for adapted surfing.
@celinecelines is the founder of @slowfactory Foundation, a public service organization working at the intersection of environmental and social justice.
Max is the Search and Rescue Manager onshore for @sosmediterranee
Mrs. Deepika is on the Waste Management Staff at @greenworms_ and is an advocate for proper waste management to mitigate pollution in the nearby Bay of Bengal.
Multiple Somalia fishers will share their personal experiences as fishers in Bander Beyla and will highlight the importance of fisheries to livelihoods.
This segment will also share three unique short films, which showcase the experiences of different groups of people with an intimate connection and knowledge of the ocean, including:
