INCLUSEA at the World Conference in Surfing Medicine 2023
Last weekend, we had the honour of presenting the Inclusea project at the World Conference on Surf Medicine 2023 in Valdoviño, Galicia, Spain.
We received great feedback from medical professionals and all different blue health stakeholders who gathered for a three-day program of inspiring lectures, workshops and outdoor activities with leading specialists and inspiring speakers in the areas of surfer health, injury prevention, drowning prevention, surfers as bystander rescuers, training, performance, inclusion and ocean environment.
Our project coordinator Javier Cantera, European Projects Manager from the Regional Society of Education, Culture and Sports of the Cantabrian Government, presented the latest developments on a scientifically based toolkit for training people with physical and/or sensory disabilities, that will be tested at the International Adaptive Surfing Summit organized by INCLUSEA in Cantabria, next April 27th to 30th.
Javier also presented the Blue Surf Festival. A new Erasmus+ Sport project which is a spin-off project to validate the Inclusea adaptive surf methodology in 6 European countries during 2023.#Bluesurfest will take place in Spain, France, Portugal, Germany, Ireland, and Italy.

Physicians and co-founders of Surfing Medicine International Ingvar Berg and Dion Van de Schoot met Inclusea team members Javier Cantera and Joao Zamith from Surf Clube Viana who also participated in the debates that followed.
Inclusea team with Dr. Pedro Reimunde, Neurosurgeon at the Hospital Universitario Lucus Augusti (Lugo) and Associate Professor of Surgical Pathology at the Universidade da Coruña (UDC), and Surfing Medicine cofounder Ognjen Markovic, specialized in Ophthalmology, Optometry and Eye surgery, as well as in Occupational and Preventive Medicine.
